California Poppies created from maps of the California Coastline. The original is 16x12" is made entirely out of hand-cut paper and took 14 hours to complete.
I have wanted to create a California poppy piece for the longest time. I used to live in Ft Bragg California as a child and California poppies were everywhere. They are so nostalgic to me, the sand in my toes and the ocean breeze just brings me so many wonderful memories. For this piece I used maps of the California coastline and bright beautiful yellows and golds of my childhood.
