Original: 11”x14” and 4 hours of cutting and design to completion
A few fun tidbits about this piece:
I was contacted by a community gallery in Sacramento to teach a collage class in 1.5 hours. This piece was created live with my class, demonstrating to the student’s techniques on layering and paper design. If you rip a piece of paper different directions you can get different effects, and even hide the white tears if you want. Sometimes I like to show the white behind the paper and sometimes I don’t. The torn paper in the sky shows the complex white rough edges and the mountains hide the white. I call this Family Mountain because of the word Family nestled in the mountain. I love that because hiking and being in nature can definitely bring families together. What a fun opportunity to teach, I had a blast and it was really great to see what the students came up with.
