Original: 11”x14” 4 hours of cutting and design to completion
A few fun tidbits about this piece:
I was contacted by an art studio in Sacramento to teach a collage class in 1.5 hours. It usually takes around 20 hours for me to complete a simple collage. So when I decided to accept the offer to teach in a short amount of time, I made a few sample collages. This is one of those pieces. It is my habit to create and use paper that coincides with the subject of the piece and this is mountain scene is no different. I designed paper with the synonyms of the word ‘sky’ for the paper used in the sky and placed the text parallel to the skyline. The mountain paper uses synonyms for the word ‘mountain’ and the text is vertically positioned so the mountains can reach up toward the sky. I love the layers of tissue paper used to create the fog rising up from the warming meadow behind the trees. This wasn’t completed in the 1.5 hours allotted for the class, but with practice I was able to get it close.
