The reference photo credits go to a few Instagram photographers Gordon G. and @Vasantogram. I’ve combined their beautiful photos into this piece. I thought it would be superfast, but I was way off. 140 hours later here I am FINISHED! The water and sky include pieces of paper from Fodor’s Up Close, “California” travel book. Pieces are strategically torn to mention locations in or around San Francisco, CA. highlighting the night life, restaurants, street maps and the different districts of the area. Dictionary pages were also used as well as vintage National Geographic’s dating back to 1969. Each piece of paper retains its original color. I had to search through several editions, and scrapbook papers to find the vibrant colors to create each image. If you look hard enough you will find a Scottish kilt, a monks robe, a trolley car, and a woman basking on an ocean rock. The glittering in the water and sky are created from a school of fish from a National Geographic magazine. Even though my short project turned out to be so time consuming, I am grateful for the journey. I learn something new each time I create.
